SOS Big Band Performance Repertoire
Our total repertoire currently consists of well over 1,500 charts covering a wide range of popular big band “swing” music, ballroom dance music (Foxtrot, Latin/Cha-Cha-Beguine/Rumba/Tango, Waltz, Swing, and “cheek-to-cheek” ballads), modern and traditional jazz, show tunes from major “musical” films, some “funk & rock”, etc. For example, we have quite a few Glenn Miller originals (eg, In The Mood, Pennsylvania 6-5000, American Patrol, Moonlight Serenade, Song of the Volga Boatmen, String Of Pearls, & Tuxedo Junction) and numerous Count Basie arrangements (Two O’Clock Jump, Moten Swing, Quincy and the Count, Look for the Silver Lining, Prime Time, Hava Nice Day, April In Paris, Li’l Darlin’, Shiny Stockings, In a Mellow Tone, Basie Straight Ahead, and several others).
Our repertoire also includes pieces originally performed by such artists as Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington, Bob Crosby, Artie Shaw, Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Woodie Herman, Charlie Barnett, Henry Mancini, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Bette Midler, Les Brown, Maynard Ferguson, Hoagy Carmichael, Barbara Streisand, and others. Some are original arrangements and others arranged by some of the most talented arrangers in the industry such as Dave Wolpe, Sammy Nestico, Jerry Nowak, Neal Hefti, Jerry Gray, and Nick Baccala.
With 3 (sometimes more!) female vocalists, the SOS Big Band is the ONLY area big band performing "Andrews Sisters charts" such as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", "Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree", "Chattanooga Choo Choo," and others.
